The sheep are getting more and more comfortable with the farm each day. For the first week, they wandered about in a tight pack, never straying more than three feet from one another. They would escape the hot sun by spending the bulk of the day in the woods, emerging at night to feast on grass in the pasture. At the sound of the backdoor opening, all heads would pop up from munching and look about for an intruder.
Today, aided by the lovely weather, the girls have been wandering the pasture all day. Even while Will was drilling holes in the hoop house poles, the sheep hung out unphased, only 30 feet away. They’ve also become more social with each other – head butting and jumping about over their favorite scratching tree.
It is endlessly pleasant to watch grazing sheep. Almost zen. I highly recommend it.
